2014 Corona Library Events w/ Abigail Shellberg

A few weeks ago my mom ran into Gretchen Doughty from the Friends of The Corona Public Library at a PTA luncheon and told her that I really wanted to interview someone about Corona Library's Book - a - Palooza. She was nice enough to pass on my information and I was contacted by Abigail Shellberg. She is the Library Services Director at Corona Public Library. She said she would love to talk to me.

The library in Corona has so many neat things going on this summer. Movies, live shows, crafts and other activities and a terrific reading program called Paws to Read.

I really enjoyed talking with Miss Shellberg. It was a fun conversation and she really seemed to be looking forward the Pets on Parade part of Book -a- Palooza.

You can find the sign up to Paws to Read and calendar of events for the Library at Http://CoronaPublicLibrary.org

Don't forget to check out The Friends of The Corona Public Library book shop at the library or online at

I know where I will be sending a lot of my summer. See you there. #Library #SummerFun

I love when I see my stuff on the web!

Hey viewers.

It is so neat.

I was looking through my stats page (because I love to see where people who read my blog live) and I saw that a bunch of people visited me this week from someone else's blog. I went to check it out and it was because they posted one of my book reviews from last summer http://www.buildingalibrary.com/picture-books/book-trailers-and-videos-for-the-2013-caldecott-medal-and-honor-books/825. They also said some really nice things about me and my blog. A teacher even left a comment about how she liked my video too.

The blog is called "Building a Library,"  http://www.buildingalibrary.com and it is all about the perfect books for a kid's library. They say they have over 500 books. That is so great. I love to collect books. I have a link to the blog in my side bar because they are always posting neat book stuff there. They even post about comic books and that is awesome because I love comic books.

I love making my blog, when I have time, but I really love doing it when I find out that other people like it too. Plus it is awesome because my second blogaversay is coming soon and like last year I am adding some new pages to celebrate. I already added my autograph book. I am going to add a page just for my book reviews. I really want to try one per week during the summer. It is hard to do that during the school year, at least it was this year.

I hope you visit the Building a Library blog and see all the great suggestion for books. You can even make suggestions yourself for the perfect kid library.

signing off for now!

My Favorite Things About School: Live Lessons

Live Lessons

I really miss recess. Playing with all the kids was so much fun. It's the only reason I ever wanted to go to school. I learn online now. Mom and I have tons of fun but it's not the same as a playground.

I really hated going to school. I was always in trouble even if I didn't mean to be. I don't really like school now because it is hard to read things but it is so much better now. My teachers always tell me I am doing good.

I really like the live lessons where my class meets with my teacher. Mrs. Vazquez is the nicest teacher I have had yet. Her lessons are always so much fun. I get extra lessons too because I need help.  Some of my classmates have been in the same class together with me for all three years. Everyone in my class is really serious about learning things. I have seen some kids in other classes mess around but our class is not like that and everyone is really smart. Teacher never has to tell us to behave. I don't talk on my headset much because it makes too much noise but lots of other kids do. Sometimes the teacher lets us draw or use the pointer on the board for the whole class. It is so much more fun than a regular class even though we are not in the same room. I get to answer every single question and no one picks on me when I raise my hand or get the answer wrong. Everyone is excited when someone answers a really hard question. We even play games. Once my name was in a test we took during a lesson. Live lessons are one of the best parts of Connections Academy.

Wait until you hear about robotics club.

Dec 14: The Grinch

Spoiler Alert

Christmas Movie Countdown

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Add caption

Last night I saw the Grinch movie. I thought it would be more like the book Mom reads to me. I really like Jim Carrey.

In this story you see how The Grinch comes to Whoville. People weren't very nice to him.  It got really good when he stole Christmas and his heart grew.

I think people should be nice to each other. I would be mean too, if I were The Grinch.

Super Star!

Today in the mail I got a letter from my teacher. I got  a Super Star award for reading. I am still not good at it. I have special classes at school to help me. My school has the Book It program. I didn't read as many books as I wanted to but I tried really hard. I think that is why she gave me the award. I got stickers too. An award, free pizza and stickers. This is the best day ever!!

Thank You so much Mrs. V! :)

Mount Vesuvius Day

Today is a day to remember the eruptions of Mount Vesuvius in Italy. Close to 7000 people were killed when it erupted in 79AD and again in 1631.It is sad that people died, but volcanoes are so neat. My school has neat on line resources about volcanoes but my favorite thing is my baking soda volcano. We use equal parts baking soda and vinegar. To get the red color we add a few drops of food color.

I love Connections Academy!

Since we got our pool back I have been so busy having fun I keep forgetting to write about it. I will soon though. We got our submarine to work and we made a pop rocket and I am building another rocket car. And guess what! My school books came today. I got a real text book for math like big kids get not like the ones you tear out and write in like little kids have. They also sent me a whole art kit in a case and a spiral sketchbook and markers. Plus I got new goggles for science and there are three story books for English not just two. One is about Ben Franklin. I can't wait to start third grade. Well, I can wait because I am still on summer vacation but it is going to be so awesome!!!

The Library!

I am not very good at reading but I love going to the library. Books are still wonderful even if they are hard to read. We have a new library in town. It has a really great children's room with a puppet tree and a carpet area with a bench to read away from every one else. It also neat tech info on the water cycle. There is a video and a wall painted with the information. I have had my own library since I could write my name. My favorite books to get are tech or science books. Like books about space or rocks. I like to books to read with mom too. She reads to me every day. She always gets lots of really thick books without any pictures when she wants to read and she reads them really fast. She says some day I will too. Her brother couldn't read until he was in third grade, like me, and now he loves to read really thick books.

Finished A New Book

Mom and I finished 'Amelia Bedelia, Rocket Scientist?'. It was very fun. She misunderstands all kinds of things and the scientist is really bald but he wears fake hair. Our next book is the magic treehouse Dinosaurs Before Dark. I can't wait.

Reading List

Reading is not easy for me. I really don't like doing it. I promised my teacher I would read every day during the summer just to practice. I will post my books here. I would love to hear what everyone else is reading.

My first book was Beezus and Ramona.  I started it before school was over.

It is a story about a four year girl who is bratty and ruins her older sister's life. She does things like throws a party with worm cookies. But she doesn't tell anyone she is doing it until her friends get there. She also messed up two of her sister's birthday cakes and locked the dog in the bathroom. Her sister, Beezus starts to hate her and feels bad. Her aunt tells her it's okay to feel like that sometimes.

Library Fun!

The library by my granny's house is awesome! We went there so dad could do some research.

It is a big building that looks more like a college or a museum.

There is a big fish tank with really colorful fish. There are statues and big glass cases.

The children's room is painted different on every wall.

 Part looks like mountains
and there is a waterfall.

Another corner looks like it's under water.

There are benches that
look like boxes of
 lemons on a lemon farm.

The reading area looks like a book shelf with books. I found Waldo easily in the big picture on one wall.

There was so much to see I almost forgot to read. We did read though. I read a small book to mom and then we played I Spy. I really like those books. This library is having lots of fun things this summer like movies and magicians. I always love to go the library but that makes it more fun.

It was so cool! I can't wait to go again
