Don't Stop Believing!

Seriously!
Don't Stop!

Hey viewers, Saturday I got to go to a summer rock concert at a local mall. There were close to 6,000 people there. The band was called DSB and they are a Journey Tribute Band.

Mom and I made plans for the week and there were three concerts. One at the library ( I will post about that one soon, the interviews were great), one at city hall and one at the Dos Lagos, the last two were the same band. I asked her if I could interview the bands. She said the library would be easy because there aren't usually a lot of people there, but the others might be harder. So we went on the band's website to find an email address. I asked them if I could interview them and guess what? They said yes! They said I could before the show on Saturday. We went to see them play the first concert so I could think of questions to ask. I didn't know who Journey was. When I heard DSB play I knew a lot of the songs though, because of Glee and Mom's playlist. They were really nice to me and the singer, Juan, said he was looking forward to talking to me.

On Saturday I talked to Juan about the band and the music. He was lots of fun to talk to and he had great answers to my questions. After the show I got to go on stage and take pictures and get their autographs for my book. The drummer gave me one of his broken drum sticks! Those guys were really nice and they had so many people to talk to. They still made time for me.

My cameras are still wonky. Half the time the sound didn't work or the video was wobbly, and we had to do some creative editing (that is what mom calls it), but we tried some new stuff to get around the rough spots, Plus, Dad was there to get a second angle so I got to do neat stuff with that and I am really happy with the video.

If you want to see a great band then you should check out DSB.

Their website says that they are the next best thing to Journey. I don't know that, just that I really liked their show. My dad knows though. We dragged him there because he wanted me to have good time with my interview, but he doesn't like live shows, he doesn't like covers, as a rule, and he doesn't like 80's tribute bands and he says these guys are terrific and he would love to see them again. They really do a super job with important things like harmonies and instrumentation plus they are all pros at their instruments. They REALLY impressed him and that may not mean a lot to some people (he is just my dad), to me it means the band is really super, because he spent a long time studying music and he doesn't say nice things about other musicians unless he means it. You can check DSB out at http://www.dsbband.com/. They have lots of shows coming up.

Look at what they sent to me! I told you they are awesome!

Eeday at the Library

Hello Folks,

Wednesday we went to a concert at the Corona Public Library. Eeday was playing Reggae music. I don't know much about Reggae but I liked it, especially for the songs I knew. I really like how they played for a whole hour straight without stopping in between songs. The audience had a really good time.

http://www.coronapubliclibrary.org/SampleCalendarPage.aspx

All the guys in the band were really nice to me and I got to interview the singer, James Eeday. His favorite song to play is "The Bed's Too Big Without You" by The Police or anything by Bob Marley. When he was younger he wanted to do make up and latex masks for horror movies but his dad was a musician and got him into music. I really liked his answer to my question about what music means to him. He said that music means the world and that it helps people across different cultures communicate. He also gave me his autograph to add to my Hall of Autographs.

Our cameras were wonky again so I didn't get any pictures with him and only about one third of the show on video. I made a highlight video for the blog and I will post all of what we videoed later. It was really great music.

Sign a Thank You Card for the Wounded Warrior Project

Hello Everyone!

Today we were at Walmart and they had a big card everyone could sign for the Wounded Warrior project. You can find it at the Brawny booth.  Mom and Dad let me sign it, I was honored to. I feel bad for the men and women who have been wounded in the wars. I don't think we can say thank you enough.

There is a lot of great information about the Wounded Warrior Project and all that it does for wounded veterans here http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.  If you can't get to Walmart, you can still send a thank you card here at the WWP facebook page- https://www.facebook.com/wwpinc.fans?sk=app_200103733347528.

Walmart and Brawny are donating money to the project if people sign the card in the store and online at Brawny's Facebook page. You can get more information here- http://wm6.walmart.com/Say-Thanks-with-Brawny.aspx

Amazing Kids Club

Wednesday was Kids Club at the Galleria at Tyler in Riverside. This month it was an awesome magic show by Amazing Dana the Magician. I had so much fun at the show, He really was amazing. He even pulled water out of thin air! Try hiding that up your sleeve. Afterwards he was nice enough to give me an interview for the blog. He was great to interview and he was really funny. He also gave me his autograph for my autograph book. Then I won the raffle and a free lemonade. Awesome!

He passed out a page that has 5 magic tricks to learn. As soon as I can I am going to try them and I will share them with all of you. Here are some important links and the video highlights from Kids Club.

Read For My Summer: Week 4

Hey Viewers!

I am still having technical problems, my video camera doesn't have sound, actually it has too much sound. Mom says she might be able to get the back up flip cam working but it is a back up for a good reason. I will happy with anything I can get. In the meantime here is my reviews for Week Four of We Give Books Read for My Summer. http://www.wegivebooks.org/readformysummer. The books were great this week and I had real fun doing the activities (more fun than reading). I am hoping to have video again next week.

I Knew You Could By Craig Dorfman: Ages 0-3
Score 4/5

This story is about how we all have choices to make and no one can really tell us what we have to do, we have to figure it and work hard to do what we need to but still have fun too.

How I rated it:
Readability: It has a Dr. Seuss feel to it that made it fun to read
Score-1

Age Appropriate?: It is a really terrific story but I think it is better for the 4-7 kids. They are the ones who need to be told how great they are.
Score-0

Artwork: I really liked the artwork. It was colorful and supported the story well.
Score-1

Will it Hold Interest?: I think it will hold interest because it has a fun rhythm to it and trains are fun for little kids.
Score-1

Did I Like It?: Yes. I liked it very much. I thought it said important things.
Score- 1

Skippyjon Jones and the Big Bones by Judy Schachner: Ages 4-7
Score 5/5

Skippyjon pretends that he visits prehistoric times and plays with dinosaurs and chihuahuas.

How I rated it:
Readability: I had fun reading this story.
Score-1

Age Appropriate?: I think this is a great story for this age group. Skippyjon has a great time pretending
Score-1

Artwork: The artwork was terrific. You could really see that he was playing pretend. I also liked how the text was different, like it was part of the art.
Score-1

Will it Hold Interest?: I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next.
Score-1

Did I Like It?: Yes. I liked it. I thought he was wrong for stealing, but it was a fun story.
 Score- 1

DK Readers: Dinosaur Detectives by Peter Chrisp: Ages 8-10
Score 4/5

This reader tells about the first people to look for dinosaur fossils and try to imagine what they were like.

How I rated it:
Readability: This is an iffy score. I think that it reads okay but it is confusing for me to go back and forth from story to first person telling.
Score-0

Age Appropriate?: This is definitely good for 8-10 year olds. It has lots of facts and and fun side bars.
Score-1

Artwork: The artwork was great. I like the mix of drawings and photographs. It really added to the text.
Score-1

Will it Hold Interest?: There were lots of interesting things to pay attention to so I scored it a 1.
Score-1

Did I Like It?: Yes. I did like it. I did not like switching back and forth from someone else telling the story the person it was about talking but I really all the terrific things I learned.
Score- 1

The 12th Doctor?

Do you know The Doctor?

I wish I did. Dr. Who is my all time favorite tv show. The Doctor is just so unique and truly magnificent!

Matt Smith, the Eleventh Doctor, has announced that he will be leaving the show after the fiftieth anniversary episode. I have seen all kinds of great actors and some actresses that people think would make a good Doctor.

I think that Tom Hiddleston would be the perfect Doctor. He can play so calm and cool like the Doctor has to be, but he can be so intense and serious when needed. I loved him in The Avengers movie, he played Loki perfectly. Even when he was getting his butt kicked he had such class.

My favorite Doctor is David Tennant. He was so emotional but could be so hard when he needed to be. I think Tom Hiddleston could be even more awesome

I found this awesome made up picture at http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/i%20love%20tom%20hiddleston
I have added a link to a petition to get Tom Hiddleston to be the next Doctor. If you agree, stop by and make your vote known
