Saturday Shout Out 7/21

Hello,
How is everyone this week? I have been working through summer school this week. I already have half of my summer math goal done and my reading is getting better, only my writing is not good yet. Mom agreed that I can start my school lessons next week so I can get ahead for the school year. I really want to do well this year. I am starting behind, so I have to work harder, but I want to get into the STEM academy in 6th grade.  We didn't get any new summer projects done but we have a bunch for next week.

Great big hellos go out to The Dalles OR, Mountain View CA, Dallas and Fort Worth TX,  and Council Bluffs IA. It is so much fun to see those cities every week.

I got a new country on my blog this week, Azerbaijan. Another one I had never heard of before, even though it is right next to countries I see all the time.  The article on Wikipedia had some really great pictures of the country. I love how its history dates back to 10,000BC all the way to really great modern architecture.

The city I chose to look at this week, Sheboygan WI, was backwards. I mean, I went backwards to choose it. Usually I see it on my list then choose it. This time I learned about it then saw it on my list. It is great when that happens.

Sheboygan is located in Wisconsin

Sheboygan is the site of the Rockets for Schools (http://www.rockets4schools.org/)  rockets launches every year. I would so love to get involved in that. I can't wait to go to school in Wisconsin so I have a chance.  I probably won't get to see it next spring but for sure the spring after that.

Sheboygan has a great website http://www.ci.sheboygan.wi.us/,  with lots of great information about the city and its history, and you can follow the city on Twitter https://twitter.com/sheboyganwisc

Shout Out to all the wonderful people who visited my blog this week and to the awesome places where they live. I am so grateful to learn about them each week.

Saturday Shout Out 7/14

Hello

How was your week everyone? Mine was great. I went to my cousin's birthday party last weekend and I have been doing fun projects on my Summer List. Our new clay and paint came in this week so we have lots of great plans for next week. Also, my fourth grade text books came on Friday. My science and social study books are much bigger and I can't wait to get started on them. The best part is the art kit. It is always my favorite school supply to get and I can't believe they just give it to us.

Before I get to the city I chose to learn more about, I want to say "Hello and thank you" to true blue places like The City of The Dalles OR, Mountain View CA, and Tomball TX. I see these cities everyday on my blog list and I am so grateful to have regular readers.

This week I chose to have a look at Redwood City CA. I like its name and my uncle lives nearby there. It was a great choice. Redwood City is  a Charter City. That means that it can decide how the city is governed instead of having to follow state laws about it. They have a city manager instead of a mayor and laws are made and voted on by the city residents and not by the city council. I had never heard of this before. I love learning new things. This is the kind of thing I started Adventures in Geography to learn.

They have such a great website http://www.redwoodcity.org/  with lots of information about the city including history and pictures. I love pictures. In the photo gallery there is file for architecture. The buildings they show are really terrific. Exactly the kind of buildings I like to draw. Plus I liked reading about the history of the city library, right on the front page. It seems like a really nice place to live.

You can get more information about Redwood City at

Shout Out to all the wonderful people who visited my blog this week and to the awesome places where they live.

Saturday Shout Out 7/7

Hello to Everyone.
I hope you have had a great week. My week was Awesome!!! We celebrated Independence Day with a trip to the college and fireworks. My parents got me a glow wand and I had so much fun. We also did a bunch projects on my Summer List, plus found a couple from my online paper, Lian's Summer Picks.

This week my blog was visited by someone in Cambridge, United Kingdom and Cambridge, Canada.

Checking the website for Cambridge UK, I was excited to read that the Olympic Torch is going to Cambridge today. This is the first time I have paid attention to the Olympics and it's kind of fun. I can't wait for the games to start. Following the Olympics is on my Summer to-do list. Cambridge has a whole bunch of fun stuff planned for the torch. I know that there is a famous college there too but I got so excited about the torch that I didn't do much more research about the city. The pictures on Cambridge's Facebook page look really pretty though.
http://www.facebook.com/camcitco

Cambridge CA doesn't have anything as exciting as the Olympics going on, at least not right now, but in the photo gallery, on their website, there are photos for the Olympic Torch relays for 2009 and 1988. I really love their website http://www.cambridge.ca/. It was so easy to find information about the city and what is happening there. I haven't seen a city in Ontario that I wouldn't want to live in, but this city seems really pretty and there is so much going on this summer. I would never run out of blog post ideas if I lived there. If you go visit their website, be sure to take the video tour http://www.elocallink.tv/clients3/can/ontario/cambridge/tourplay.php?movie=caon_canwel_rev3&spon=welcome. You can also follow them on twitter https://twitter.com/cityofcambridge

Great Big Shouts Out to all the wonderful people who visited my blog this week and to the neat places where they live.

Saturday Shout Out 6-29

Hello Everyone,
I am sorry that I missed last week. I wasn't feeling good over the weekend. I hope you have all had a good couple of weeks. I have been doing projects from my summer list. We now also have an online paper (bit.ly/KISnd9) that has lots of links to all kinds of great sites with ideas for fun.

Sugar Land, TX, clicked in  a fewple times in the last couple of weeks. I love the name. I would love to live a place called Sugar Land. It got its name because it used to be a sugar plantation and now Imperial Sugar Company has its headquarters there. Sugar Land has a great website http://www.sugarlandtx.gov/index.asp. They also are going to have a really big celebration for the Fourth of July, http://ow.ly/bEwZ7. I found it on their Facebook page. From the pictures on Flickr it seems like a really pretty and fun city.

A great big SHOUT OUT goes out to the people in these terrific Cities and Countries. Thanks so much for visiting my blog.

Saturday Shout Out 6/16

How is everyone this week? I just finished my last day of school until the end of August. I do have summer tutoring and I don't like it, but some of it is fun. We have started on the Summer Bucket List and I am writing a story, A Summer Adventure by Lian Nathaniel, all summer long. It is so great to see so many repeat visitors. I really thought with school being out that fewer people would visit. I see less cities but more often. That is just terrific.

The two cities I chose to look this week are Cincinnati, OH and Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Cincinnati has a lot of great websites promoting it like http://cincinnatiusa.com/ and http://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/. It seems to be a great place to visit. The neatest thing I saw was the Choir Games happening in July. It is like a choral olympics. That would be so much fun to go to. You can read more about them here http://2012worldchoirgames.com/Home/Landing?sectionName=2012-games.

Prince Edward Island sounds like a neat place. Summerside was the first town from P.E.I that I have seen on my blog list, so it was a good place to look at.  Summerside first became a town in 1877 then in 1995 it became a city.  Their city website  http://www.city.summerside.pe.ca/, has links to a lot of great places to learn more about it. I especially liked the photos at http://www.downtownsummerside.com/

http://www.downtownsummerside.com/photogallery.php

I want to send a great big Shout Out to all the wonderful people, who live in these cities, states and countries, that clicked in to my blog this week! I really do enjoy seeing where you live.

Saturday Shout Out 6/9

I hope everyone has had a good week. I am just trying to finish up school. I just have a little bit of Chinese to finish for school but Mom is making me do math work sheets until school actually ends next week. It isn't too hard. I have spent most of my time swimming. It is hard to blog from the pool though.

This week I took a look at Naugatuck CT. It is a town and a borough. I haven't seen that before. I am not sure how that works.
 File:NaugatuckCtTownSeal.png
It is a small town with around 30,000 people but it has a lot great things on its website http://www.naugatuck-ct.gov . It looks like a nice town to live in and its Howard Whitmore library is so cool looking. Looking at the links, I found the historical society and read about a neat project where the high school kids helped to research the historical artifacts and documents the city museum has. http://naugatuckhistory.com/documents/2011/2011-02-05_Civil-War-Article-1.pdf I would love to help with a project like that. That is so cool!

I am going to make a whole post for my international city tomorrow. This week's city is coolest city I have seen yet. Split, Croatia.

Big Shout Outs To all the neat people that clicked into my blog this week. I had so much fun learning about the places where you live. I also learned about four new countries this week. (Whoever you are in The Dalles, OR and Fort Worth TX, please leave a comment so I can say hi to you. I love that I see your towns almost every day.)

Saturday Shout Out 6/2

Hello to Everyone. I hope you have had a good week. This week I have been celebrating my first year blogaversary with some of my favorite memories from my blog. I have had so much fun remembering things. I have also been trying to finish up school. That isn't as much fun and learning Chinese is a lot harder than I thought it would be, but I am almost done.

I was quite excited to see which cities were clicking in this week. Again there were a bunch repeats. I hope that means that someone is looking at my blog throughout the the week. I would be just as happy if lots of people from the same town were clicking in. I like to look at the map. It is cool see how in some states the towns that I have seen on my list are really close together.

I had never seen a city in Oklahoma on the list before so I checked out Oklahoma City http://www.okc.gov/. It seems like a really nice place to live and I have family that lives there. I wonder if they know about my blog? I was really excited to see that a new library, the Patience S. Latting NW library, is opening there. Just in time for the summer. The library is my non pool favorite place to be during the summer.

I added a ton of new countries to master map this week. I have seen more than 70 countries now. It was hard to choose just one to learn about so I picked one I haven't heard of before. Actually I had heard of it before but I thought it was part of Czechoslovakia. The Slovakia website is kind of plain http://www.slovakia.org/,  but it has a ton of great information about The Slovak Republic and its history. I really enjoyed learning about it.

Big Shout Outs go out to everyone who clicked in this week, but especially to my teacher, Mrs. Vazquez who has my blog saved to her favorites! Thanks so much for spending time with me.

Saturday Shout Out 5/26

Hello Everyone,
I hope you have had a good week. It been good here. I finally got to switch my blog back to the Summer of Fun. Mom and her friends have finding online links, for all the things I want to do this summer, for weeks. We finally have the full activity list up Summer 2012 "I know what we're going to do today!". I can't wait to try some of the projects.

Usually I try to talk about the first cities to click into my blog here. This week something really awesome happened. I always get cities that click in every week but this week I had cities that showed up more than once. I am really happy to get more viewers. I thought I would look at those cities this week especially since they are all over the US.

The Dalles, OR, clicked in the most. Almost everyday.  I would be interested just for the city's name. According to their website, it is located on the Columbia River and it used to be known as the town at the end of the Oregon Trail. That is a great thing to have in your history. It used to be Dalles City. I didn't see how it came to be called The Dalles.

Loves Park, IL http://www.loves-park.il.us/index.html also clicked in almost every day. It also has a very cool name. It was named after Malcom Love and it really started out as a park, Love's Park. Their website history page has the best old town photos

Fort Worth TX  showed up quite few times last week and it has a great website. http://fortworthtexas.gov/  I really liked reading in the city news section about the Fort Worth Cats, minor league baseball team. They sound really cool.

The final repeat city was Daphne AL.  Another really neat name. I think Daphne's website http://www.daphneal.com/  was the best. It really looked a place I would like to visit or even live.

Shout Out to all these great cities in Europe and  North America!

Bon Jour French Speakers!
I had some more fun with photo and video editing.
I think I am getting better but I still have a long way to go.

I used Google Earth to find the cities and http://imtranslator.net to get the French translation. All mistakes are mine.
